Gerald Heddins (1939-2022)
Services for Gerald C. Heddins, 82, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Main Street Baptist Church, with Bro. David Crain, Ramey Heddins, Pastor Frank Webster, and Dr. Bruce Smilie officiating.
Mr. Heddins passed away February 19, 2022, in Tyler. He was born October 4, 1939, in the Willow Springs Community of Van Zandt County. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County, where he graduated from Edgewood High School, Class of 1958. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 1962 in Horticulture, his master’s degree in 1964 in Food Science, and was a proud member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets. Gerald had been a member of Main Street Baptist Church since 1973, where he served as a Deacon and taught their Junior High Sunday school class for many years. He especially enjoyed his work of farming and ranching. Mr. Heddins was preceded in death by his parents, Early Clifford & Lillie Bell (Stanberry) Heddins; and brother, “Charlie” Heddins.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ermal Heddins of Fruitvale; two sons, Ramey Heddins and wife Cruzie of Ft. Worth, and Brad Heddins and wife Rhonda of Grand Prairie; five grandchildren, Joshua Florez and wife Victoria, John Heddins and wife Jordan, Hannah Schlup and husband Drew, Reagan Heddins, and Amanda Heddins; eight great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ava, Chloe, Sofia, Alice, Genevieve, Ezra, and Leona; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Bill Glass Prison Ministry.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
