Nelda Ivy Wheat (1964-2018)

Services for Nelda Ivy Wheat, 83, of Grand Saline, was scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Pederson officiating.


Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.


Nell was born in Stamford, Texas, August 21, 1934 to Clarence and Nita Oldham. She celebrated her victory over this earthly life on January 13, 2018. She moved to Grand Saline in 1964, was a member of First United Methodist Church, Athena Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to dance and collect birds. She was a good listener and made friends so easily. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Elra Morgan; brother, Kenneth Oldham; husbands, Quitman Ivy and John Wheat; son, Jeffery Ivy; granddaughter, Jennifer Ivy; and grandson, Jonathan Carnes.



Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Brumit and husband Rodney of Grand Saline; daughter-in-law, Judy Ivy; grandchildren, Jason Ivy and wife, Kelly, Jeremiah Carnes and wife Eva, and Jana Ivy, all of Grand Saline; stepdaughters, Cindy Peters and husband Paul of San Antonio, Marilyn Ingram and husband Mike of San Diego, CA, and Cathy Koenekoop and husband Paul of The Netherlands; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Joshua and wife Madi, Shayne, Matty, Eli, Elizabeth and John; sweetest of friends and Rumicube partners, Jean New and Loreta Camerman; and numerous other relatives and friends

.
Pallbearers will be Paul Peters, Mike Ingram, William Neal, Jason Ivy, Jeremiah Carnes and Josh Manshack.
Honorary pallbearers were Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class.


Memorials may be made to the Grand Saline Library and First United Methodist Church.
The family received friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Bartley Funeral Home.
