2018 East Texas Forage Conference to Cover a Wide Range of Topics

A wide array of topics will be cover at the 2018 East Texas Forage Conference, all in effort to assist East Texas forage producers make the best quality forage they can at the most economical price.   The event is scheduled for Friday, February 23rd  at the Rains County Fairgrounds -Emory, Texas.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am at a cost of $20 per person payable at the door.  Lunch will be provided.  The program will conclude around 3:00 p.m.

 
The program will begin at 9:00 am with a presentation on “Three Year Research Trial - Restrict vs. Non Restricted use Herbicides ” by Stephen Gowin, CEA, Rains County.

 
Our next topic will be “Managing Stocking Rates for Year Round Grazing”, presented by Mr. Hugh Aljoe, Noble Research Institute.

 
Mr. Aljoe will be our next speaker as well, this time on the topic of “Grass Fed Beef”. 

 
“Use of Fertilizers and Alternatives” will be the first topic after the lunch break and be covered by Tommy Phillips, CEA, Van Zandt County.

 
Rounding out the day will be a presentation from Clint Perkins, CEA, Smith Co. on “Weed Identification and Herbicide Updates. 

 
Three (3) CEU’s (2 IPM, 1 General ) will be given for those in attendance.
