Law Enforcement Looking for Woman Who Escaped While Arrested

On September 26, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious person call in the 12000 block of Hwy 19 in Canton.

Upon investigation it was determined the female suspect, identified as Eva Crutchfield 36 of Edgewood, had committed burglary of a habitation and was arrested.

While the deputy was conducting an inventory of Crutchfield’s vehicle she was able to slip off the handcuffs and ran into nearby woods. An extensive search of the area was conducted with the assistance of Canton Police Department, Edgewood Police Department, Grand Saline Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety but Crutchfield was not located.

Crutchfield currently has two (2) felony warrants for her arrest, one for burglary of habitation and the second for escape while arrested.
