We encourage anybody seeking public office to take advantage of this offering. Your vote is your voice, use it wisely and know your candidates.
This week Misty Stanberry comes to the Grand Saline Sun to make her case to earn your vote in the upcoming election.
Stanberry says she grew up in the Ben Wheeler/Edom area, graduating from Van High School in 1993. She and her husband, Rusty, now live on a small farm in Fruitvale where they have lived for over 20 years. The couple has one son named Riley.
Stanberry described her resume as, “In my working career I was blessed to be employed by many local businesses such as Southwest Correct Craft, Canton Motors, Door Controls and Van Zandt Newspapers, to name a few. I maintained key positions including executive, administrative, finance/insurance manager, accounting, marketing/social media and sales.”
If elected, Stanberry says her focus during her first term would be, “(1) Keep all current offices open - The satellite offices of the VZC TAC office are important to the citizens and local business owners that serve citizens. I have no plan to make changes in that respect. (2) Stop employee turnover - I am determined to maintain the current staff. Training takes time; in order to assist citizens in a timely manner obtaining knowledgeable staff is crucial. (3) Work Flow - I want to determine if there is any room for improvement in the flow of day-to-day operations.”

Announcement
Dear citizens and voters, my name is Misty Stanberry, and I am a Republican candidate for Van Zandt County Tax Assessor-Collector.
I want to share a little about myself and my reasons for filing to be your next Tax Assessor-Collector. I grew up in the Ben Wheeler/Edom area and attended school at Van ISD, graduating in 1993. I married my high school sweetheart, Rusty, and we have a son named Riley. Together, we own a small farm in Fruitvale where we have lived for over 20 years.
In my working career I was blessed to be employed by many local businesses such as Southwest Correct Craft, Canton Motors, Door Controls and Van Zandt Newspapers, to name a few. I maintained key positions including executive, administrative, finance/insurance manager, accounting, marketing/social media and sales.
Many people have asked me why I decided to run for VZC Tax Assessor- Collector and I always seem to answer with the question of “Why not?” I live in Van Zandt County, have worked here, raised a family and own a farm here. This is the right time for me personally to give back and serve the citizens of the county that I love in a more profound way.
In my first term I would focus on three main goals:
1. Keep all current offices open - The satellite offices of the VZC TAC office are important to the citizens and local business owners that serve citizens. I have no plan to make changes in that respect.
2. Stop employee turnover - I am determined to maintain the current staff. Training takes time; in order to assist citizens in a timely manner obtaining knowledgeable staff is crucial.
3. Work Flow - I want to determine if there is any room for improvement in the flow of day-to-day operations.

I did not make the decision to run on a whim. I prayed and have spoken with my family extensively and know in my heart that I am well suited to serve you as your next county Tax Assessor- Collector.
I am sincere, honest and gracious and asking for your vote on March 3, 2020.
